Depeche Mode people. Check this vintage amazingness.

As you may have noticed from my last couple of outfit posts, I am really feeling for a pop of neon color to add some panache to my still winter outfits. Like I just can’t get enough (harhar). And now I am thinkin’ Pop of Neon brights to my outfit, Pop of Neon brights to my makeup routine. Love this Bobbi Brown Neons & Nudes makeup palette for Spring! Must buy now…

organic gemstones

Lately I have been more than a little obsessed with all kinds of organic looking gemstones – agate, quartz, chrysophase, you name it. I am drawn to their gorgeous colors and their natural and beautiful imperfect-ness. I am even convinced of their metaphysical healing powers. It’s the Stevie Nicks in me I guess. I am thinking of hitting up the bead store this weekend and create something resembling the Chan Luu multi pendant necklace and I have to have one of these rings. Gorgeous, yes?

Happy Labor Day weekend loves! Hope you all have fun plans! I’ll be busy prepping and planning for next week’s big trip! Plus a BBQ or two thrown in, of course.

p.s. congrats to my friend Heather for winning the Man Repeller fashion week contest – she gets to walk in the world’s biggest fashion show in PARIS next week! Oh and guess, what? I was the photographer behind her winning shot! I can’t help but be bursting with pride. She promised me she’d send me a postcard.

This little gem of a dress came from Wasteland on Haight street in San Francisco. I got many a compliment on the color, so I think it was a win buy. Plus is was only $18 AND it has pockets. Double Score!

summer sunset

Is there anything more beautiful than a late summer sunset?

I’ve decided to forgo thoughts of fall for a bit (despite the fact that my Vogue September Issue just finally arrived on my doorstep yesterday) to live in the moment and appreciate August in all it’s glory. I am currently feeling inspired by the rich juicy oranges and punchy peachy pinks reflective of the colors in a late summer sunset. Isn’t that the most amazing color on Ashley Olsen? And yes, that is a Seattle sunset…near and dear to my heart.

What color is currently inspiring you?

I’m happy to announce that the winner of the Fringe Salon giveaway was Miss Molly F.! Congrats Moll! Thanks to everyone for entering and tweeting and for all the love you gave me in the comments section – I loved it! More fun giveaways to come! xx

On a lazy Sunday afternoon break from the neon brights trend, I went for a subdued and calming icy blue color palette. These pretty nail polishes remind me of the original Hard Candy baby blue, just a little more 2011 (and more sophisticated 26 than girlish 14). Palette Cleansing indeed.

great food + great design

I have always loved the Penguin Classic books with the illustrated covers that have been around the past couple of years. They are just so pretty, it makes the classic book that more special. Well the artist that does those book covers is Coralie Bickford-Smith and she has a new set of books coming out this month with Penguin called the Great Food series. All of the chosen books are “the finest food writing from the last 400 years” (says Penguin). Coralie was inspired by the ceramic styles from each book’s time period when she created each work of art cover. I wish I had a beautiful kitchen to display all of these in. Someday, le sigh….

the colorful covers and spines of each book also remind me of my other design dream: to have a color-coded bookcase full of colorful books

some of Coralie’s other beautiful & endearing work…
