flannel + leather

Uniqlo flannel plaid shirt (similar here), vintage leather skirt (similar here), Urban Outfitters feather necklace, Gap heels, Kooba clutch, Ray Ban Wayfarer sunglasses

This is my ode to Seattle 90s leather and flannel… in a modern 2011/12 kind of way…

I have been basically living in my Uniqlo flannel plaid shirts (see here) I got in New York. They are so comfy and cozy and I have been mixing them up with everything- leather, feathers, patent, suede, etc.

It’s been rather balmy in San Francisco lately in true California spirit. Not for long for me though, as I head up to Whistler, Canada on Thursday for some fun in the snow! Hope you all have fun Holiday plans!

holiday sparkle

I had the most fun weekend full of holiday party hopping (tis the season!) from one end of the city to the other – and that called for a seriously festive outfit. Cue my vintage blue sequin shift dress from Held Over on Haight St, some polka dot tights, throw in a little leopard and a little fur and good to go.  Some lipstick would’ve been nice, but you know, you can’t win um all. And it just comes off when you’re heavily cocktailing right?

I am keeping the party going (cause why not?) all this week while my good girlfrend Alicia is in town from New York, so many more festive outfits to come. I am thinking of remixing my DIY feather skirt for tomorrow!

40s flair

dress, fur coat & clutch: vintage, shoes: Frye, necklaces: c/o Jewelmint, vintage, liptick: Nars Funny Face

While rummaging through my closet on Sunday (see previous post) I unearthed this gem of a nod-to-40s style chair print dress that I actually bought at a vintage store about 3 years ago. I haven’t worn it in ages but after trying it on again, I decided that it’s definitely going back in rotation. Look at that on-trend witty conversation print and adorable long sleeve, flippy skirt silhouette. I’m so ahead of my time…

In other news….I am headed home to Seattle tonight for an extended Thanksgiving break, yay! On the agenda: getting my hair did (my grown out ombre need some help), going to the spa with mom, hanging around in my PJs catching up on my magazine reading and knitting, and of course, plenty of cooking and eating. What are your plans for the Holiday weekend? Anyone partaking in some Black Friday shopping?

brooklyn flea

On the Saturday I was in New York, I decided to take a break from the craziness of fashion week and the city and take to Brooklyn for the Brooklyn Flea Market in Fort Greene. My two friends and I instantly fell in love with the charming borough – a nice laid-back escape from the city without being too far. We discovered a small boutique there that we wanted to literally move into – Stuart & Wright. If I could only shop in one place for the rest of my life – this store would be it (maybe along with Opening Ceremony), it was that cool. You must go. The Brooklyn Flea market was equally as charming and amazing – a literal playground for the vintage loving girl. I scored a black short sleeved pleated-skirt dress that I am imagining wearing to death this fall. Couldn’t have asked for a better Saturday.

#FNONYC

Last Thursday night I took to the town with a gaggle of girlfriends for Fashion’s Night Out in NYC. We headed first to Saks to get our hair braided by Sally Hershberger salon-ers with Rebecca Minkoff and the Man Repeller (you know how much I like stuff in my hair). Next we headed to the Meatpacking to check out the Shopbop pop-up shop. It was such a crazy party in the streets there, which was so much fun to be a a part of. We ended the night at the Ace Hotel for the Opening Ceremony outdoor carnival and a late night dinner at the superb Breslin restaurant. Such a fun night to be in NYC!

pretty fabb

This past Wednesday I attended the Lucky Magazine FABB (Fashion and Beauty Blogger) conference in New York. It was an amazingly cool experience and I give Lucky so much credit for being smart enough to realize the power of the fashion blogger and use and support us. The conference included speaker panels of various influential bloggers and industry insiders including Diane von Furstenberg, Rebecca Minkoff, Rachel Roy, the Kardashian sisters, Rodger Berman (Rachel Zoe’s husband), Leandra of the Man Repeller, Kelly of the Glamourai and Erin and Stephanie of the Coveteur. I loved hearing all of  the inspiring advice, play in the fun swag tents and meet so many lovely and amazing bloggers from all over the country (may have been the best part). A bloggers dream -too too fun! Some snapshots from the day:
