best dressed: golden globes 2011

Natalie Portman won my heart with her acceptance speech. Unfortunately, I can’t say the same about her dress. Where was Rodarté when she needed them?

Here are my votes for best dressed from Sunday night’s Golden Globe awards:

My favorite risk taker January Jones in Versace (she is the new face of). When you look like that, why the hell not? Her boobs are amazing, I love the fringe, and the immaculately coiffed hair is the perfect pretty sophisticated foil to the red hot look.

My favorite blush colored sparkler:  Anne Hathaway in Armani Privé. Love the long sleeves with shoulder pouf and then that low back and slight fishtail hem. I wish I could have seen those large scale sequins/paillettes on this dress in person. It looks amazing and is the perfect amount of subtle bling.

My favorite color:  Claire Danes in custom made Calvin Klein Collection. Minimalism at its best: in neon.

My favorite Princess Moment:  Olivia Wilde in the always fabulous Marchesa (and Christian Louboutin shoes). I personally love the casual down hair- without it I think she would have looked overdone (like a country music star). The hair makes the look approachable, modern and cool, and very Olivia.

and then there’s my favorite Wild Card:  Heidi Klum in Marc Jacobs straight off the runway Resort 2011. Some people thought she looked ridiculous and inappropriate. Well, those people clearly don’t understand fashion and don’t know how to have a little fun. Not nominated and only there for the party, and being L.A. in January (practically Spring, especially in fashion’s eyes), I thought she looked fabulous (call me crazy). Heidi doesn’t take herself too seriously and has fun with fashion, and this dress for this event is an example of that.

Who was your favorite?

onward to the Oscars!

love this look: Olivia P.

Olivia, Olivia, Olivia.

We all want to hate you for your attitude on The City. Yet, in real life, you’re just so darn pretty and you happen to have impeccable style. Le sigh…

Olivia takes the cake for my “love this look” for the week

Here she is this past Saturday at the Topshop Unique Fashion Show at London Fashion Week in a head-to-toe Topshop. I am so into the mix of girly (floral tiered skirt) and tough/masculine (suede motorcycle jacket) these days. She pulls the looks off well and looks adorable to boot. I also love her mid-length chestnut colored hair, a nice fall change from her normal blonde highlights. Hats off to you, Ms. Palermo.

bell of the ball

I stumbled upon this interview/ fashion photo spread of actress Kristen Bell  in the latest issue of Women’s Wear Daily we get in the office. I instantly feel in lust with it. The pictures are stunning, the styling creative, the model, beautiful and oh man, the fashion! I had to share here ❤

i love the purse and the jewels. amazing styling.

adorable.

“I tend to favor things that make me feel like I’m playing a character. I gravitate toward vintage styles—equestrian, nautical. I’ve been loving a blue-and-white-striped long-sleeve T-shirt since I was in high school because it makes me feel like Brigitte Bardot sunbathing on the French Riviera.” – Kristen Bell

love this look: J Biel

Has anyone else noticed that Jessica Biel has really stepped up her fashion game lately? Girl has got some style.  This look she wore last week to a press conference for The A-Team movie in Berlin caught my eye. It was not a traditional ensemble for this kind of event, as most gals would choose a cute dress. But I like that Jess chose something different and I think it works. Plus, I love her two-tone hair dye job – it’s really pretty on her and looks fresh.

Jess is wearing a 3.1 Phillip Lim pale yellow cropped trouser suit from his Resort 2011 collection with a Vince striped sweater and cut-out slingback heels.

It’s not easy to wear an ensemble straight off the runway. But she wears it well….

love this look

Leighton Meester wore this ensemble recently in Madrid. I loved her look.

Adorable off-white embellished Herve Leger Textured Patchwork Mini Dress with tulle skirt paired with awesome gleaming Pierre Hardy gold metallic sandals.

the dress on the runway

The beading on the dress is amazing.

the shoes

These Pierre Hardys were a bold choice – not the obvious shoe for this dress (see runway photo). However, Meester rarely makes obvious choices, and I like that about her.  These shoes work in my book because they aren’t matchy, and they don’t play in to the summer sun dress look the dress could easily be. The shoes take the dress and the entire look to a whole other level – to a much cooler, edgier – and swoon-worthy place.  They make the look for me. Well played, Leighton.
