layer on

Did you see my post on the Glitter Guide today on how to layer multiple necklaces? I was so thrilled to put it together because layering necklaces up is something of a life passion of mine. And I take it very seriously. Like art form seriously. uh huh. You’ve seen these all before but here’s a recap of my favorite layered looks from this blog.

I hope the GG post inspires you to layer your necklaces up to create a cool and unique look! Please tweet for facebook me images so I can see your look! ♥♥

Lately I have been more than a little obsessed with all kinds of organic looking gemstones – agate, quartz, chrysophase, you name it. I am drawn to their gorgeous colors and their natural and beautiful imperfect-ness. I am even convinced of their metaphysical healing powers. It’s the Stevie Nicks in me I guess. I am thinking of hitting up the bead store this weekend and create something resembling the Chan Luu multi pendant necklace and I have to have one of these rings. Gorgeous, yes?

and the best accessory globe goes to…

Bejeweled headbands had a major moment last night at the Golden Globes on these two lovely ladies. I’m officially on board. Best accessory indeed!

(Michelle and Charlize happened to be two of the best dressed overall as well. I also loved Elle Macpherson, Claire Danes and Emily Blunt)

fall on my mind

Now that it is officially August, I’ve officially got fall on my mind. Fall is my favorite season for fashion. Whenever it starts hitting the magazines and stores (and blogs) I get all giddy thinking about the leaves changing and the chilly mornings and afternoon sun. I look forward to getting back in my jeans and boots and cozy, drapey sweaters. Fall 2011 has me particularly excited because I am really feeling for all of the fall trends – a lot of them stemming from the 70s revival we saw starting in the spring. Cue jewels tones and working-girl blouses and heeled loafers (of which i totally owned a doc marten pair i adored in 7th grade- brings me back)! I am also loving all of the knitwear out there in various textures and knits. Pull out your sweaters girls, they’re officially in.

This is what I’m going to be wearing all fall…

into the blue

despite the rain and unseasonable overcast sky, i decided to stick with my summer themed bright frock and hair flower for alicia’s northern california wedding. i am glad i didn’t end up turning to my back-up black dress (i was seriously considering) as this bright turquoise silk one ended up being so fun to wear.  i think i kind of perked up the party!

style influenced

colorful boho glam

One of my personal style icons is Margherita Missoni. I have always loved her authentic sense of self and free spirit attitude that comes through in how she dresses. Her glamorous bohemian style evokes a life well lived: heiress and muse to major Italian fashion house, year-round jetsetter, fashion A-lister. Yet, despite it all, she doesn’t ever look like she is trying too hard and she always looks a little immaculately imperfect (something I love, as, I too, am always a hair slightly out of place). You can tell she has fun with fashion and doesn’t take it too seriously. Her effortless, accessorized, (Missoni) knit-wear heavy signature look feels so right this season with all of the 70s inspiration going on. I have found myself channeling Margherita’s style lately, playing with ‘colorful boho glam.’ See my MM inspired polyvore set above.
